Scalp Care 101: Why Your Scalp Routine Matters 🌿

When we talk about healthy hair, we usually focus on the hair itself — shampoos, conditioners, masks, oils — but what about the scalp?

One thing I’ve learned throughout my own healthy hair journey is that taking care of my scalp deserves just as much attention as taking care of my hair.

Your Scalp Is Part of Your Hair Routine

Product buildup, excess oil, sweat, and going too long between washes can leave your scalp feeling heavy or uncomfortable. That's why I believe a good hair routine should start with knowing your scalp and what it needs.

For me, scalp care means keeping my scalp clean, being mindful of buildup, and adjusting my routine depending on how my scalp feels.

Scalp Oiling Isn't One-Size-Fits-All

I love hair oiling, but I've also learned that more isn't always better.

You don't need to completely saturate your scalp with oil. A few drops and a gentle scalp massage can be enough. And if your scalp tends to get oily quickly, you may prefer using oil as a pre-shampoo treatment instead of leaving it on overnight.

It's all about finding what works for you.

Listen to Your Scalp

Your routine doesn't have to look exactly like someone else's. Pay attention to how your scalp responds and adjust accordingly.

That's part of the philosophy behind JMC HAIR CO. — creating an intentional haircare routine while remembering that healthy hair is a journey, not something that happens overnight.

Take care of the scalp. Take care of the hair. Stay consistent. 🌿
